Engine Oil

Engine oil is made from a blend of base oils and additives. The base oils are either mineral-based or synthetic. Mineral-based oils are derived from crude oil and are the most commonly used type of engine oil.

Engine Oil

What is Engine Oil?

Engine oil is a lubricant used to lubricate and cool the internal moving parts of an internal combustion engine. It is designed to lubricate the crankshaft, bearings, connecting rods, pistons, and other parts that move within the engine.

Synthetic oils are artificially produced from chemicals and offer better performance in extreme temperatures and are more resistant to breakdown than mineral oil-based oils.

What are the uses of  Engine Oil?

Engine oil is used to lubricate the internal components of an engine, such as the pistons, bearings, and crankshaft. It also helps to cool the engine, clean and protect it from rust and corrosion, and seal the pistons and rings. Additionally, engine oil can also help to reduce engine wear, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions.

What are the types of Engine Oil?

There are several types of engine oil, each designed for specific types of engines and operating conditions.

1.    Conventional or mineral-based oil: This is the most basic type of engine oil and is made from crude oil. It is the least expensive option and is suitable for most vehicles.

2.    Synthetic oil: This type of oil is artificially made and is designed to provide better performance and protection than conventional oil. It is more expensive but can last longer and withstand more extreme temperatures.

3.    Synthetic blend oil: This is a combination of synthetic and conventional oils and offers some of the benefits of both.

4.    High Mileage oil: This type of oil is specially formulated for engines with over 75,000 miles on the odometer. It contains special additives to help reduce oil consumption and leaks in older engines.

5.    Full Synthetic Oil: This is the most advanced and highest quality motor oil which is engineered to provide maximum protection and performance under extreme conditions

6.    Diesel Engine Oil: This oil is specially formulated for diesel engines and contains additives that help to protect against the higher heat and pressure found in diesel engines.

Types of mineral-based oil

  • Conventional or "dino" oil: This is the most basic type of mineral-based oil, made from crude oil. It is suitable for most vehicles but may not provide as much protection as other types of oil.

  • Semi-synthetic oil: This is a blend of conventional oil and synthetic oil, which provides better protection and performance than conventional oil.

  • High-Mileage oil: This is specially formulated for engines with over 75,000 miles. It contains seal conditioners and antioxidants to help protect and extend the life of older engines.

Types of Synthetic oil

  • Fully Synthetic oil: This is made entirely from synthetic compounds, offering the best performance and protection.
  • Synthetic blend oil: This is a blend of synthetic and mineral-based oils.
  • High-Mileage synthetic oil: This type is specially formulated for engines with over 75,000 miles and provides better protection and performance than conventional oil.
