Silicone Lithium Grease does not have a specific viscosity rating like liquid lubricants because it is a non-Newtonian substance. Instead of measuring viscosity in terms of a single value, Silicone lithium grease is characterized by its NLGI (National Lubricating Grease Institute) grade. The NLGI grade indicates the consistency or hardness of the grease.

The base oil in grease typically has a higher flash point (the minimum temperature at which it can ignite) compared to liquid fuels, making it less prone to catching fire.
